Am I stingy or thrifty? I refused to pay over 550pln (~130EUR) for new Airpods after the battery in my old ones depleted.
I’ve already paid over 100pln to fix them a few months ago. Now I’ve decided that’s enough. What did I do instead?
I’ve bought myself brand new earphones for less than 50pln. That’s right - over 11 times cheaper. Not two, not five - 1️⃣1️⃣ times cheaper!
Of course, they are not as fancy, but they work. I only use them for listening to audiobooks before going to sleep, so I don’t care about the sound quality - which is quite good by the way - or microphones.
They are good enough.
Just to be clear, I own a Macbook and an iPhone. I see the value in the convenience of using them, and I pay a premium for it. However, they are not 11 times more expensive than their alternatives. I don’t need to boost my social status by wearing AirPods all the time. I like using things that work, and I’m willing to pay more when it’s worth it. Not this time, though.
Am I the only one who thinks this is just another example of how we are being fooled?
